Voith Paper: Stora Enso Eilenburg upgrades DIP quality

DIP capacity at Stora Enso’s Eilenburg mill in Saxony, Germany has been continuously expanded since the facility came on stream in 1994.

Stora Enso now reports giving the green light for a project scheduled for the first half of 2006 to further improve deinked pulp quality.

Main project objectives are to further improve stickies removal and optical stock properties. To ensure this Stora Enso has ordered an EcoCell primary flotation for expanding the existing pre-flotation system as well as a complete IC slot screening module for each line, equipped with C-bar screen baskets and MultiFoil rotors.

To increase screen basket service life the existing cleaner plant will be completely modified to EcoMizer technology and repositioned in front of the IC slot screening. The patented EcoMizer cleaners provide maximum selectivity and operational reliability even at stock consistencies up to and over 2%, whilst ensuring minimum fibre ( glossary ) losses thanks to a high dirt content in the reject.

The order also includes erection supervision and start-up assistance, process, basic and detail engineering as well as basic control engineering. In Eilenburg Stora Enso produces newsprint for coldset printing (NewsPress) as well as paper for heatset printing (FlyoPress), both from 100% recovered paper. Both paper grades have been awarded the environmental "Blue Angel“ label. In addition, the Eilenburg mill produces market DIP which is dried and supplied in bale form to paper manufacturers worldwide.
