International technology group Andritz will provide the main equipment, erection, and detailed engineering for a new PHC (Peroxide High Consistency) bleach plant at Stora Enso’s Kvarnsveden mill in Sweden. The new bleaching process will enable Stora Enso to produce higher pulp quality required for its new SC++ paper grades.
The PHC bleaching process is based on state-of-the-art Andritz technology for mechanical pulp bleaching. The use of peroxide at high pulp consistency provides high brightness (glossary) and preserves fiber properties. The core equipment in the delivery are two Andritz Twin-Wire presses. One raises the pulp consistency to ideal bleaching conditions, the other provides clean pulp for the paper machines. Start-up of the new bleach plant is scheduled for
late 2007.
