Stendal pulp millThe Stendal pulp mill in Arneburg, Germany is for the first time equipped exclusively with clothing from Voith Paper Fabric and Roll Systems. With a width of 7.20 m, long-fiber kraft pulp is produced on the machine in the qualities TCF (bleached totally free of chlorine) and ECF (bleached primarily free of chlorine) at speeds of up to 210 m/min. Since July 2009, clothing from Voith Paper runs in all five positions. In the pick-up and in the 2nd press, there is a CellFlex V4 seamed felt. In the 3rd press (top and bottom), there is a CellFlex V4 endless and in the Fourdrinier wire a CellForm O.

All fabrics and felts have very good start-up behavior.
The seams can be closed quickly and easily. The dewatering behavior is extremely good over the entire running time. Along with the products that are really very good, Voith especially distinguishes itself through its very good service,” explains Steffen Ratzlow, Fiber Line Production Engineer. In August 2009, production was 2,737 tons more than forecast. For the first time since start-up in 2004, a production quantity of 58,000 tons/month was achieved. Top sustained speeds of 210 m/min were attained and daily tonnages of over 2,100 tons produced.

The Cell platform concept offers broke conveyor belts under the names CellForm forming fabrics, CellFlex press felts and CellTech dryer fabrics. So far, remarkable successes have been attained with the entire Cell product range. The CellForm O fabrics have a very good dewatering capacity with the enormous fiber thickness of the pulp. CellFlex V4 felts are based on simple mono basic structures combined with two Vector components. The Vector components also considerably improve the batt fiber anchoring. That is a particular advantage in the case of felts with seam.

This felt offers high dewatering and good compaction resistance.
The felts are distinguished by high dimensional stability. They also don’t change in width or length at the high temperatures they have to endure, due to the pulp coming from the digester house. Since 2006, Stendal has also been supplied with blind-drilled QualiFlex press sleeves by Voith Paper Fabric. The successes of the blind-drilled surface are measurable in the higher dewatering and increased speed achieved, with the same steam consumption. The blind-drilled press sleeves are used in over 80% of all pulp dewatering systems worldwide and also show their full potential at Stendal. The success was made possible not least due to the use of QualiFlex.

Zellstoff Stendal pulp mill GmbH is the largest and most modern manufacturer of market pulp in central Europe. At full utilization of capacity, about 620,000 tons/year of bleached long-fiber pulp is produced. This high-quality pulp is reprocessed into products like printing and hygienic paper and is also used as a reinforcing fiber in the processing of recovered paper. Zellstoff Stendal GmbH is part of the American-Canadian Mercer International Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers in the long-fiber market pulp field.
